Does LSD stay in your system forever?
Q: |
I am doing a report for school on lsd and I was wondering if you could tell me where the resources came from for the information that lsd does not stay in your system forever. |

I have never heard this particular propaganda before, perhaps you are confusing it with the myth that cannabinoids are fat soluble so they stay in your fat/brain forever. Very few substances stay in your system forever. Chemicals can temporarily accumulate places, but nearly all will eventually be metabolized and/or excreted. Most things that are psychoactive are related to endogenous (naturally occuring in the body) chemicals in some way, and are very likely to be broken down by the same enzymes. LSD is metabolized very quickly. For one thing, very little of it makes it to the brain, much getting metabolized in the liver, and what does make it to the brain is metabolized within a couple of hours. The strongest piece of practical data is that LSD use can only be detected with drug tests for about 2 days. This is shorter than almost any other illegal psychoactive they test for.
We have a page of info about this myth which provides some references for the current knowledge about how LSD is metabolized by the human body.
