hey there, i was wondering about some specfics on a case of accidental lsd ingestion. i read in a book (psychedelic baby reaches puberty) that there was a 5 year-old girl that accidentaly dosed with lsd in either the late 60's or early 70's. if you could shed any light on this, i would greatly appreciate it. |

The primary reference to this that we know of is in Psychedelics Encyclopedia by Peter Stafford. He cites that in 1966 :
"On April 6th, a five-year-old girl in Brooklyn swallowed a sugar cube impregnated with LSD that her uncle had left in the family refrigerator. She was rushed to the hospital where her stomach was pumped. She got the scare of her life through this procedurek, and remained on the critical list for two days. Published reports of her being examined later indicated that she made a full recovery."
Apparently the experience (not surprisingly) was quite traumatic for the child, although some have argued that the process of pumping her stomach, which is not useful in the case of LSD ingestion, contributed more to the trauma than the LSD. This case was cited by law-makers that year as an example of why LSD should be made illegal.
