Q: |
why do people remove seeds and stems from cannabis before smoking it? Is it okay if i dont, does it have any dangerous effects. If not is there any thc in the seeds and stems? |

A: |
The THC content in seeds and stems is extremely low. The seed is dedicated to providing fuel for the developing plant, thus is filled with oils, proteins, and other inactive biomatter. The stem is primarily a transportation vessel for nutrients, made mostly of cellulose and/or other plant fibers. While the minimal plant "skin" around the stem may contain some THC, relative to the amounts in leaves and buds it is extremely low and insignificant. Smoking anything is a risk to your health. By maximizing the active components of your smoking mixture, by either careful selection of materials or methods of ingestion, you decrease the potential harm to your system. This is why most smokers remove seeds and stems from their smoking mixtures. These parts provide little psychoactive components, yet will taint the flavor and add excess, unwanted, combusted material to the smoke, increasing its harm potential at little increase in desired effect/benefit. |
