What does melatonin do?
Q: hey.. i was wondering if taking Melatonin does anything to u.....

A: Melatonin is a endogenous (meaning it naturally occurs in your body) activator of the sleep cycle. Having little to no recreational use, many have found it to be a good aid to falling asleep. Rather than forcing you to sleep and/or knocking you out, it seems to clear your thoughts and allow you to sleep. Different people require different amounts, and some find the sleep beneficial while others awaken slightly groggy. Many users report stimulated dreaming from melatonin use. As with any sleep aid, it is not reccomended to take melatonin regularly for sleep, as you may find your body relying on the external source of melatonin for sleep instead of making its own, thus forming a kind of dependancy. If you find yourself needing to take a sleep aid more than occasionally, you should consult with your doctor and/or a sleep specialist.
