Is it true that MDMA was tested on soldiers during WW I or II?
Q: Is it true that MDMA was tested on soldiers during WWI or WWII?
A: No. MDMA was investigated by US Army Intelligence during the early 1950's as part of a wide ranging study of psychoactive drugs conducted at the Edgewood Arsenal in Maryland. It was assigned the code name EA-1475 and some preliminary animal experiments were performed, but it was never used on human test subjects and was soon abandoned.



It was not until the mid to late 60's that the first reports of human use started to filter out. These were not in a clinical setting, but rather personal experimentation by individuals. Check out the MDMA timeline for more details about the history of MDMA.
