Is yohimbine an MAOI?
Q: |
I try to stay away from MAOIs as a personal rule. I just need a little clarification on Yohimbe because an article in the Vaults says that it is not an MAOI, however, other sites list it as one. The article actually refers to Yohimbine, while the other sites refer to the entire plant, so could the MAOI simply be another chemical separate from The Yohimbine in the plant, or is this much more complicated than I expected? Thanks |

Thanks for pointing out that there was a contradiction on the site. Yes, yohimbine is a mild MAO inhibitor, we've corrected the file which suggested that it wasn't. MAO inhibitors are a broad category, they do not all work in the same way or have the same effects or the same intensity; even chocolate contains MAO inhibitors. In the relative scheme of things, Yohimbe is a very weak MAOI. |
