Is there any way to test the purity of ecstacy with substances found at home?
Q: Is there any way to test the purity of ecstacy with substances found at home?

A: No. Unfortunately there are no household chemicals we know of which will react usefully with MDMA. Even the relatively "simple" test using a Marquis reagent should be prepared by a chemist or someone with sufficient chemical knowledge to deal with the safety of the chemicals. The prepared reagent can be used with appropriate precautions by most people, however it will not accurately inform you as to the purity or strength of a sample of MDMA, but can only indicate whether one substance or another is present. Many chemicals cross-react with the marquis test and so even if the color change is what you expect (say dark purple/blue/black with MDMA), you may have something else entirely.

See the Ecstasy Testing Kit FAQ for more info about the Marquis reagent.
