No. In the United States, a substance must either be specifically listed as a scheduled substance, or be closely chemically related to a schedule substance in a very specific way. AET and its salts, isomers, and salts of isomers (including optical, position and geometric isomers) are all schedule I in the United States, making them illegal to buy, sell or possess. 5-MeO-AET is neither a salt nor an isomer of AET.
This is exactly the same situation as DMT, where DMT is specifically listed as a schedule I substance while 5-MeO-DMT is not.
However, it is possible for sales or possession of a substance such as 5-MeO-AET or 5-MeO-DMT to be prosecuted under the federal Analogue Act (many states have their own analog laws). Though they are extremely uncommon, there are a few such cases on record, almost all for sales. If 5-MeO-AET (or 5-MeO-DMT for that matter) is sold as a recreational drug, however, it is very likely to be prosecutable under the Analogue Act.
