What is the legal status of ayahuasca in Holland and Greece?
Q: |
I am writting you this e-mail from Athens, Greece. The reason why I am writing you is because I want to be informed of what the laws are in Holland about the use of ayahuasca, and if it happens for you to know what are the laws about ayahuasca too in Greece.

The legal religious use of ayahuasca in Holland was established in an April 21, 2001 Amsterdam court ruling. [See the Erowid and Santo Daime pages describing the ruling.] Dutch researcher and writer Arno Adelaars provides some context for entheogenic sacraments in Holland in his talk Psychedelic Rituals in the Netherlands delivered at the 1998 Psychoactivity Conference held in Amsterdam.
Drug policy emphasis in Greece seems to be on prevention and treatment of addiction. We don't know the explicit legal status of ayahuasca in Greece (if someone has information on this, please let us know). However, the legal precedent set in Holland has implications for other member states of the European Union.
