What are the percentages of 5-MeO-DMT in Diplopterys cabrerana.
Q: |
Do you know the percentages of DMT and 5-MEO-DMT in Diplopterys Cabrerana (chaliponga)? Is the 5meo a trace amount or will it give a 5-meo flavor to the experience? I've seen DMT amounts listed, but no information on how much 5meo you would get if you were only using DMT amounts to determine a dose. |

We've been unable to find any details about exact levels of 5-MeO-DMT found in Diplopterys cabrerana (chagropanga) leaves. In Pharmacotheon (p 219), Ott states that trace amounts of MMT, 5-MeO-DMT, and bufotenine were also found in the leaves of D. cabrerana by Agurell et al in 1968. He also notes that Dennis McKenna analyzed D. cabrerana leaves in 1984 and found DMT and 'extremely trace amounts' of bufotenine. They fail to mention 5-MeO-DMT at all which suggests that they did not find any.
If you haven't already seen it, we have a page summarizing four different analysis of D. cabrerana for N,N-DMT content.

Without knowing the definition of 'trace amounts', it's difficult to know whether the 5-MeO-DMT quantities might affect an experience. If you look at the N,N-DMT quantities listed by Agurell they're approximately 14.6 mg/kg. Because 5-MeO-DMT doses are so low, it would take less than 1/10 of that amount of 5-MeO-DMT to affect the experience. So the question is whether 1.4 mg/kg of 5-MeO-DMT could have been considered a 'trace amount'. Unfortunately we don't have that information. |
