What is the current legal status of DOI in the U.S.?
Q: What is the current legal status of DOI (2,5-DIMETHOXY-4-IODOAMPHETAMINE)?
A: As a research chemical, DOI is not illegal in the United States. For human consumption as a recreational psychoactive, it would very likely fall under the federal "Controlled Substance Analogue Act" (CSA) created by the Anti-Drug Abuse Act of 1986. DOI would likely be ruled an analog of DOB, federally schedule I, if it sold for human consumption as a psychoactive. The Bromine in DOB is replaced by Iodine. If it is used in animal or in vitro research, its status is less clear.
