What is in a pink tablet marked "4980"?
Q: I have some pink pills that were given to me by a friend at school. They have 2 triangles and are marked with the imprint 4980. Do you know what they are?
A: According to the Drug Identification Bible, the tablets you describe are a generic brand containing 100 mg Propoxyphene Napsylate and 650 mg Acetaminophen. Propoxyphene Napsylate is an opioid analgesic structurally related to methadone but substantially less potent.



It is used for the relief of mild to moderate pain and has been compared to codeine in it's action, though it is somewhat less potent and causes less euphoria.
