What did I take?

Hi to all the folks at Erowid, I was just wondering about a substance identification; Me and my friends each ingested a crystal of this unknown substance which my friend had given us, they each weighed only a few milligrams (~5mg) and the experience when taken orally didn't do anything for four hours then it developed extremely rapidly to fractal imagery and tracers, and it wore off about 18 hours after taking it originally; (in smaller doses it lasted exactly 6 hours but still started at 4). But when insufflated the experience began in seconds and produced an experience similiar to dmt and lasted about 1/2 an hour. Any clues at what it _could_ be? |

The most difinitive answer is "there's no way to know". But as a guess, I'd propose 5-MeO-AMT. It is quite strongly active at 5 mg and we have received reports of a duration of up to 18-22 hours at higher doses. We haven't received any reports of 5-MeO-AMT snorted, so I can't comment on the effects you describe.
