How much amphetamine or dexamphetamine does it take to overdose?

Adderall (an amphetamine-dextroamphetamine combo) and Dexedrine (dextroamphetamine alone) overdose thresholds vary according to individual reaction and what level of tolerance the user has built up.
The doses for Adderall and Dexedrine are quite similar and daily users are prescribed anywhere from 5 mg/day up to 60 mg/day (usually in a divided dose of 30 mg twice a day for the treatment of narcolepsy). So while a person who has never used amphetamine of dexamphetamine might find 20 mg to be too much, a person taking 60 mg each day might be able to take more than 100 mg without experiencing dangerous or significant negative side-effects.
Because of the issue of tolerance, Traumasurvival.org suggests that using levels of amphetamine in the blood to determine the severity of an overdosed is not possible. They state that the only way to determine overdose must depend almost entirely upon clinical signs (such as levels of physical distress).
