Is it possible for LSD to have 5 times the effect on my friend as it does on me?
Q: |
On many occasions, my friends and I have taken LSD. Every time, we would each take our dose from the same batch, same bag, right next to each other on the sheet. However, I typically end up getting about 1/5 of the effect that they do, even if I take more than they do (3 hits in comparison to 1 on one occasion). So my question is, can LSD have that wide of an effect on people or is something wrong with me? |

A: |
Yes, like many psychoactives having emotional and psychological effects, LSD can elicit a wide range of responses, not only from person to person, but in the same person from one time to the next, or over a span of years.
Individual variations and fluctuations in brain chemistry, metabolism, psychological makeup, medications, and other factors contribute as much to responsiveness (or lack of response) to psychoactive plants and drugs as they do to day-to-day baseline moods and outlook.
It is not at all uncommon (with LSD or many other psychoactive materials) for one person to experience 3 or 4 times greater effect than another person with the same quantity of the same material, and not unheard of for one person to experience even 6 or 8 times greater effect than another.
