Does Bufo alvarius venom contain DMT?
Q: Does the Bufo alvarius ("Sonoran desert toad") really contain DMT in the venom when properly extracted?
A: No. It is a commonly repeated mistake that the venom of these toads contains DMT (N,N-DMT). Some Bufo toad venom does, however, contain 5-MeO-DMT, and people have been known to smoke the venom for its psychoactive effects.
