How secure is your announcement email list?
Q: |
I was wondering what kind of security you have on your servers. How hard would it be for someone to access your e.mail database. I personally do not feel threatened by e.mail lists but would also like to know that I will not be persecuted by agencies that compile lists and try to keep track of peoples intrests. This kind of information is very useful to someone setting up a "type". |

Getting access to the email database would be a difficult process, but probably not impossible. We have taken steps to make it secure, but if someone with the right skills was willing to spend the time and energy to try to crack it, they might be able to. If you or anyone else wants to join an email list more anonymously, the best way to do it would be to get an anonymous email address through a web email provider such as hotmail.
As an interesting aside, there are more than 1,000 people on our announcement list. It is not a list only for people who use illegal substances, it is for anyone interested in any aspect of psychoactives. There are teachers, educators, police, scientists, researchers, and parents on the list all interested in being updated when new and interesting information becomes available.
