What substances are "K" and "G"?

Hello, I'm a psychotherapist (intern) and continue to hear my clients speak of street drugs called "K" and "G". I don't know what these recreational drugs are and my clients can't seem to provide me with complete information. Can You provide me with information of these drugs or a site where I can learn more about these drugs. I found the information on MDMA very helpful but I couldn't find any information on the above mentioned druges. Your help in this matter would be grately appreciated. K is a named used to refer to ketamine. Ketamine is a dissociative anaesthetic which is used recreationally in lower doses (generally snorted) as a dance drug at clubs and at higher doses (frequently injected) as a powerful psychedelic. Ketamine became a scheduled III substance in August, 1999 prior to that it was legal to possess. Long term frequent use of Ketamine can precipitate in some people paranoid egocentric delusions. G refers to GHB. GHB is a alcohol-like substance which can be used as a sleep aid and was sold as a body-building supplement until the FDA banned its sale. It's effects are significantly like alcohol, but it can be dangerous because it is easy to overdose especially if _mixed_ with alcohol or other depressants. Occasional and careful use seems to be relatively benign but heavy long-term use may be associated with kidney and heart irrregularites as well as sleep disruption. Information can be found at :
