Drug Testing
SUMMARY #
U.S. DRUG TESTING SUMMARY | |
Heroin | |
Tested for in Standard Drug Tests? | YES |
Tested for in Extended Drug Tests? | YES |
Possible to Test for? | YES |
Detection Period (of Metabolite) in Urine | 1-4 days |
TEST TYPES #
Urine, GC/MS & HPLC, and Sweat Patches
Most basic drug urine tests that test for "opiates" detect morphine, which both heroin and codeine break down into. Heroin is also detectable by more expensive (and more rare) GC/MS and HPLC laboratoray testing. Via the use of sweat patches, heroin (in low concentrations) and its major metabolite in sweat, 6-acetylmorphine (in higher concentrations), can be detected via lab analysis.
CAUTION & DISCLAIMER #
Erowid's drug testing information is a summary of data gathered from site visitors, journal articles, websites, and other resources. Detection periods depend on amount and frequency of use, metabolic rate, body mass, age, overall health, drug tolerance, and urine pH of each individual. Many substances that are not tested for in basic or extended urinalysis tests CAN be tested for by a laboratory willing to go to the trouble, although that is uncommon.
