Summary
Jochen Gartz is a German chemist and mycologist known for his work studying psilocybin-containing mushrooms. He was born in Mansfeld, Germany in 1953, studied chemistry in college at Merseburg, and did medical research in Leipzig.

Since 1983, he has been researching psilocybin mushrooms and other psychoactive substances and has become an internationally recognized expert in the field. He has also studied the metabolic by-products of mushrooms. Dr. Gartz is currently a chemist and mycologist at the Institute for Biotechnology in Leipzig.
