Ideal for Opiate Withdrawal
Diclazepam
Citation:   Tetrisdroid. "Ideal for Opiate Withdrawal: An Experience with Diclazepam (exp108007)". Erowid.org. Feb 28, 2016. erowid.org/exp/108007

DOSE:
4 mg oral Diclazepam (pill / tablet)
BODY WEIGHT: 18 kg
Diclazepam 2mg tablets were purchased from a RC vendor, £7.50 for x10 2mg tables. They're very small, almost identical in size to 2mg Roche Diazepam. The colour is a blue/mauve mix. Not unlike those old pimento candies.

I originally asked my GP for help with coming off codeine. I built up a pretty hefty addiction, and decided enough was enough. Codeine withdrawal for me is akin to getting the flu, with added symptoms of irritability, anxiety and increased stress levels. Doctor advised me to see a rehab specialist. My thinking was that I just needed something that would let me get over the withdrawal symptoms that normally last 3 - 4 days.

Timestamps are shown in absolute time, because that's how my brain works.

Day one. Took my last codeine dose last night. 300mg. I've been awake for just over an hour at this point and I'm already feeling a bit stressy. So, instead of taking more codeine, I'm gonna try the Diclazepam.

Day one, 9:30am

Ingested x2 2mg tablets, on an empty stomach.

10:00am
Starting to feel some sedation like affects. Eyes feeling a bit heavy. Little tricky to focus, nothing too amazing so far.

11:00am
Effects seem to be peking now. The anxiety and irritability I normally feel from missing my morning codeine does isn't noticeable at all.

11:30am
Feeling very, very relaxed at this point. I feel as though I could very easily sleep. Definitely feeling a strong sense of sedation. Not dissimilar to an opiate effect, but with less mental activity. Feeling calm, very relaxed, limbs feel slightly heavy. Eyelids are almost impossible to keep open at this point.

2:00pm
Woke up on my sofa at around 2pm. Apparently I fell asleep. Feeling very relaxed, calm and content. Still no sense of codeine withdraw at all. In the respect the diclazepam seems to be doing what I wanted.

At this point I should probably explain that I supper from various anxiety problems and nervous disorders. None of that is present today, so far.

2:15pm
Effects are still running strong.
Summary:
Feeling of warmth and relaxation.
Feeling very lethargic and sleepy.
Codeine withdrawal is non existent.
At this point in the day without codeine, I would be climbing the walls by now. Diclazepam seems to be completely dealing with that.

The next diclazepam I took was at 9pm that night. I took another 2mg tablet. Within an hour, I was ready for bed.

To be clear. For the last 18months or so, I have been habitual using codeine. Every day. This day however, none of the horrid withdrawal symptoms that come with codeine have been felt at all.

After taking my 2nd dose of diclazepam before bed, I was fast asleep.

I will continue to use this substance, it seems to have remarkable potential for coping with opiate withdrawal.

Whether it's habit forming like Diazepam however, remains to be seen.
