I will list some of the physical benefits I experience.
- Energy boost
- Focus boost
- Motivation/Creativity boost
- Slight mood enhancement
- Slight Strength increase when lifting weights/working out
Overall Adderall improves my basic cognitive performance. Tasks like homework, reading etc. become more interesting. I wouldn’t say it becomes necessarily ‘easier’ to do work, but rather the work becomes more interesting. I also found that leisure activities like gaming, drawing and writing become even more enjoyable, and the motivation to exceed is present.
I will list personal experiences of the negatives.
- Difficulty sleeping
- Increased social introversion
- Dry mouth
- Loss of appetite
- Loss of motivation w/o use
- Loss of energy w/o use
- Difficulty concentrating w/o use
There is a reason I include the negatives w/o use. On days that I am off the drug, I will experience large negatives to counter the benefits. Sleepiness and loss of motivation are two big ones I often deal with on off days. It becomes increasingly harder to perform laborious and tedious tasks. On my off days I literally just want to be lazy and eat a ton of food.
On my off days I literally just want to be lazy and eat a ton of food.
I also find having conversations to be increasingly difficult and small talk becomes next to impossible. The only way I will be able to have an open conversation is if it’s on a topic that I am genuinely interested in. Once you start talking about computers or fitness, I am an open mic. But again, small talk doesn’t mix well with Adderall, at least not for me. Dry mouth is commonly experienced, and I combat this by always carrying a large water bottle with me. Loss of appetite is very common, and I often don’t eat until dinner time. However, this just means I am intermittently fasting, which actually contains health benefits in and of it.
I started taking Adderall because of the workload I endure. I am a full time college student, I work part time, I try to go to the gym 3 times per week minimum, and I am also a dad. It is very difficult to find motivation and energy in order to juggle these things throughout the week. I found paying attention to certain tasks such as lectures and homework to be next to impossible. I originally found my psychotherapist due to anxiety issues, and she tested me for ADHD. After becoming prescribed Adderall, I found that balancing my responsibilities to be much more manageable. I also found it much easier to remain present during class and studying abilities were increased. I also had increased sex drive, and overall energy which helped me stay in the gym and helped me in the bedroom. Overall, I have used Adderall for basic performance enhancement, and it has worked wonders. I stick to using only 30 mg per day and I only use it on the days that I plan on working on some sort of project. On weekends I tend to stay off it, and I use those days to relax and catch up on much needed rest and leisure time.
In my opinion XR is a much smoother feeling than the IR tablets.
