3.5 g oral Kratom (daily)
  T+ 8:00 3 g oral Kratom (daily)
BODY WEIGHT: 250 lb
I started taking Kratom once every few days just to feel good after workouts, as it does do this. I have taken high levels of opiates in the past for extended periods and was able to wean off and quit them, so I gave Kratom a shot. I started out at 3.5 grams once a day after my fasted morning workouts. I cycled between red, green and white strains. Within a few months I was mixing 6-7 grams powder in hot water with three table spoons of sugar first thing in the morning, and again about 3 pm. Mixing the Kratom with a pre-workout. (A great way to get up in the morning.)

I pretty quickly became addicted and needed even higher dosages to achieve that good feeling I was looking for.
I pretty quickly became addicted and needed even higher dosages to achieve that good feeling I was looking for.
To make matters worse I would take 10mg Oxycodone now and then as I still had some from my previous usage of it. I pulled it off for about a year with little negative side-effects other than needing more. I would go to work, drive, and go to the gym on it.

I started to notice that the craving feeling was a normal part of life that Kratom just stopped for a bit. The tea would make me feel really good for a bit, then tired and kind of sick, and the dosage always needed to rise to get the euphoric effect, and not just tired-sick feeling.

One night I had one of those life changing Marijuana introspective moments where I lay in bed thinking of how poor I was treating my body, I decided to quit all of it. I tapered my dosages, where every week I would decrease the kratom by half, and for a few days I would crave hard, but it went away. Drinking a soda or something sugary helped. Then cold turkey I quit from about 3 grams daily. After 5 days I felt ok. I then set about to stop the pre-workouts, but that has not happened yet. They might be worse for me than the Kratom.

I have been clean for 2 months and I still have a large bag of it in the kitchen, as I can't get myself to throw it out. The drug is still in my heart a little I guess. Also, I have this idea that I could still use it once a while for fun and temp the green devil once more.

In conclusion:

Kratom is very addictive. It is the 'green monster' that got under my skin, I grew to love that terrible bitter root taste. Pores on my cheeks kind of looked dark and dirty like I hadn't slept or showered in a few days, after extended use (started after a year).

Reports of it being a miracle drug with no negative sides are simply wrong. I will look back fondly on my year of Kratom-energized mornings, it is one hell of a way to get the day started. But the 'juice isn't worth the squeeze' as they say. The cravings and needed increase in dosage left me always chasing an ever-disappointing high.
