5-10 Percent Have No Effect....

I had a tooth bored out in preparation for a root canal the following week. I got antibiotics to clear out the inflammation, and the dentist said the tooth was going to be paining and she recommended ibuprofen, but I said I couldn't tolerate that very well together with the antibiotics so she prescribed me some codeine.

The tooth pain was real but I really wanted to try codeine, here I had 30 legal 25mg tabs and I decided to take 8 as I'd tried a couple before (while drunk) without any effect and wanted to really experience the euphoria I expected could be obtained from these. I took 8 tabs in one go, after drinking maybe 3-4 cans of beer, and sat down expected the rush and euphoria to kick in after about half an hour.

Absolutely NOTHING happened. Now 3-4 hours later maybe I'm a bit more relaxed than I'd otherwise be, but I've not felt any effect of the codeine. I had to take 2 ibuprofen and 2 aspirin an hour ago just to deal with the toothache, and I drank maybe another couple beers and half a bottle of wine.

Guess I'm one of those people that lack the enzyme to convert codeine to morphine in the body. Total disappointment, no effect.
