A few days after the parcel arrived, I settled down after a long day and got into bed to lessen the risk of a fall or collapse. The first few canisters were not effectively utilised. I didn't get the hang of backing off the cracker to allow the gas to escape into the balloon, so I only got a half filled balloon and I felt very little out of the first three canisters (breathing in and out of the balloon several times). There definitely was a bit of a glow I would say, but no disassociation or a great deal of alteration of perception.
When I figured out how to actually get all the gas into the balloon, I took my first proper lungful. The gas tasted sweeter than the previous canisters. The drone of my air conditioner, which I wasn't taking much notice of before, turned into a hugely noticeable, audible buzz permeating the room. Everything slowed down and there was a considerable delay in control of my body. I let the balloon, full of my exhaled breath, deflate and took several deep breaths of air, as I felt like I was about to go beyond a point of no return.
This was terrifying. When I regained my senses, I proceeded to fill another balloon and do the same thing. But this time I was able to take more breaths from the balloon before I lost my senses. This time, I looked at the ceiling and it turned into a hallucination of all sorts of colours. I must have lost sense of who I was at that moment, as I thought I was slipping into death, because a certain lyric of the song that was playing seemed to continue repeating and the hallucination I had was not changing.
I thought I was slipping into death, because a certain lyric of the song that was playing seemed to continue repeating and the hallucination I had was not changing.
I didn't know where I was or who I was. I thought I was in some kind of afterlife. These hallucinations started blending in with features in my room. First I saw "Sydney" from a poster of the city in my room. I didn't even know what the text meant while I was under the influence there. I saw a road sign I had hanging in my room, but I just thought it was another pattern. Then, there was a fuzzy red thing and a white thing made of fabric were surrounding me on my bed, which turned out to be my blankets. I felt like I was spinning and wrapping myself with these blankets with an identical twisting movement dozens of times. Then my head rolled over and I saw text (this pillowcase has several random words on it related to sleep). It was at this point that I started regaining a semblance of who I was and where I was at.
The next few canisters were pretty ordinary compared to that trip. The disassociation was still strong and there was a definite buzz with some hallucinatory effects. In all these later instances, I was able to keep a sense of where I was and what I was doing. Overall, I enjoyed the experience. Very pleased with it. It's opened my mind.
