  SC Sumatriptan

This was before they offered it as a pill. I had to use it as a subcutaneous injection. For the most part, Imitrex helped my migraines better than anything else I'd tried, and trust me, I'd tried a lot. I'd get debilitating migraines almost every day.

A few random times, though, the medicine would backfire on me. I'd feel heat rising underneath my scalp until I'd feel like my head was blazing in flames. The pain would increase tenfold, and I'd have to take several sleeping pills just to survive the intense pain. I never knew when or why that reaction would occur. My neurologist at the time told me that others had similar experiences, but that no one had figured out why. I'm sure a lot has changed since then (it's now offered in pill form).
