My friend and I bought 3 grams of the dried leaf and decided to try it one afternoon, thinking that the effects would be over with within 1/2 an hour so we could go party during the night.

We gathered 2 other friends to smoke with us in my friends living room and began around 5:00. We made a makeshift water bong and used a torch lighter and began loading bowls and hitting as quickly as possible in a circle, remembering to hold each hit in for 30 seconds. The smoke was somewhat harsh, and several times I was unable to hold it in for any prolonged amount of time. Two of my friends began claiming that the salvia was starting to 'fuck them up' but my friend and I were feeling nothing and kept looking at each other to verify that this was doing absolutely nothing.

Within about 5 minutes one of my friends began shouting unintelligible things and ran out of the room, only to return a few seconds later and roll on the ground laughing. The other friend who was feeling it started talking, seemingly to himself and walked into the corner of the room. The last friend and I continued smoking hit after hit, although I was beginning to feel a slight tingling. We continued to discuss whether or not we actually felt anything but eventually I started to loose my attention span and neither of us was making much sense. We stopped hitting the salvia, and I felt it somewhat easy to laugh at my friends who were definitely tripping. The four of us were dictating our states of mind throughout as best we could.

Eventually I began to feel like, what I described at the time, 'I was stoned but different.' I had a feeling as though I was almost in another world and I did not have access to my memory like I normally did. Everything had sort of a different look to it, except to me it was like the color was different. The entire time I was perfectly certain that I was not tripping out or seeing any hallucinations or anything like that. I just felt really disoriented and almost like I was stoned. I could not function normally, or carry on a conversation, and I got lost on the way to the bathroom in a house that I knew pretty well.

The entire time I kept looking at the clock thinking that by 5:30 I would be back to normal, and looking forward to that time. Time seemed to move strangely, but eventually 5:30 passed and 6:00 passed and I was not feeling any less than I had right when it kicked in.

I stayed messed up for pretty much the entire night, as the effects wore off slowly. By 10:00 I was still afraid to talk to my parents because my mind was still not working right, but I did feel considerably more sober than I had for the first hour or so.The entire time I was on salvia I couldn't wait to sober up because I had expected a short trip. In retrospect, it was pretty fun and I will try it again.
