My Night With Crystal

My story actually starts the day before. I went over to my friend S's apartment to see if my friend C was there too. When I walked in, there was about 12 people sitting in a circle in the small studio. They all freaked out when I came in, because I had come through the security door with another resident, and hadn't called them to get buzzed in. I sat down, and started chatting with people. Some weed got passed around, and then they pulled out a glass pipe, loaded something in it and started taking hits from it. A bit later, they also pulled out a glass bong and took hits from it. I figured out pretty quickly that it was meth. I was offered hits a couple times, but turned it down since I hadnt done any research or anything, and only was familiar with the government propaganda, which is not too forgiving.

The next day, I went back to S's apartment, and started talking with him about meth and his experiences with it. He said some of the same people I met the night before were coming back over with some more meth, and would I like to try some? I said yes, cause I'll try almost anything at least once. The people arrived around 5 PM, and we started smoking.

Now the first thing I noticed is that the ettiquette was much different than with weed smoking. People tended to sit on it more, switch rotation, take multiple hits, things that people would get bitched at about, if nothing else, if they had been smoking weed. I took one hit around 5:30, another about an hour later, and then 2-3 a few hours after that. Everybody left except for C and me. We smoked a blunt, and I noticed that I didnt feel it as much as I normally would.
We smoked a blunt, and I noticed that I didnt feel it as much as I normally would.
I had been told that this might happen. We watched a movie and I almost fell asleep. I ended up lying down with my eyes closed for about 6 minutes, then sitting back up feeling refreshed. I went home the next night and slept with no problems.

A meth high is totally different from any other drug I've tried. I've had experiences with other uppers, and well as many other varieties, and the best way to describe it would be as a very gentle Adderall buzz. I never felt bored. At the same time, I didnt really have an urge to get up and do anything, I just sat and waited for something to happen, and smoked cigarettes and talked with S. When I did do something though, it made it....easy. Not interesting, because I wasnt truly interested in the task, it just wasnt hard to accomplish. This, I think, might be the true draw of meth, the feeling of moving through the world without having to stop and deal with it.

That being said, I don't ever think I'll do it again. S crashed hard the day following my experience, and he was a conditioned user, used to shoot quarter and half grams. I'm told this is alot, although I have no way way of knowing myself. He had only been smoking two days, which I know isnt very extreme, and hadnt smoked much over that period. I was actually gone when he crashed, but when I went back over to grab my coat, he looked like he was about to die. Eyes sunk in, looked like he hadnt slept in years. He looked fine the next day, but it was still creepy. Also, at around 5 AM we went on a hunt through his carpet for shards. This we did for about three hours. I didnt even notice it at the time, but looking back, this is slightly scary, since we must have covered the floor area 4-5 times over. I took about another hit-and-a-half of the stuff we found in the carpet, some of which turned out to be real glass, stones, or sand. Some of it actually was meth. Finally, one of the guys who smoked us up was in debt $300 for a quantity (I dont know the exact amount) that had been fronted to him, and which he had consequently put up his nose. This seemed an insane amount, but what was even more insane was that the guy was talking about going back to the same dude he owed money too for more product.

Meth has its place, like all psychoactives. I'm sure some people are better off on it. In fact, its a prescribed medication. But I can understand why it is considered dangerous as well.
