Within the past year I began taking Zyprexa (in combination with Lamictal, Zoloft, and Provigil) for the treatment of OCD and acute depression ... And bipolar disorder... And because I attempted suicide... Ok so now that we got that out of the way back to the Zyprexa. When I first began use there wasn't much effect for about a week. After that I 'mellowed' out quite a lot. My symptoms decreased and I did indeed feel less depressed and my OCD didn't act up nearly as much. However the trade off was that I was stuck in that 'mellow' place and it wasn't at all pleasant. The best way to describe it is simply to say that I wasn't happy, and I wasn't sad... I was just kind of there. I continued to stay on the medication for about a year and just recently I have found out some alarming information that I wanted to inform people all about. Zyprexa has been found to contribute to the development of diabetes (adult onset and otherwise). This is alarming in and of itself but there are also many other dangers. I'm switching as soon as I can find an alternative.
