Odd, Yet Distinct
Salvia divinorum (5X Extract)
Citation:   Edward. "Odd, Yet Distinct: An Experience with Salvia divinorum (5X Extract) (exp48389)". Erowid.org. Feb 8, 2018. erowid.org/exp/48389

DOSE:
.125 g smoked Salvia divinorum (extract - 5x)
  .166 g smoked Salvia divinorum (extract - 5x)
BODY WEIGHT: 190 lb
I order some Salvia 5x from the internet, and when it arrived, my roommate and I decided to smoke it one at a time.

I went first and took about 1/8g, smoked it in our hookah (a five gallon water tank) and settled down into a seat. My eyes and temporal lobes felt very warm, and everything had a distinct warm light to it. I felt very clear headed, in retrospect I can't recall having a single thought in my mind.

Slight persperation would also be noticed around armpits, lower back, and sides of head.

My roommate had gone outside (effects wearing off on me now) so I joined him. I proceeded to tell him, that although our driveway is quite dirty (disgusting for that matter), the color of the gravel was 'clean'; very distinct and clear. Things also appeared in a pseudo-2D manner.

Like I said, things were all very clear and distinct. For such a strange thing to talk about, I spoke on it quite easily as if I had researched our driveway or was taking a study course in driveway appearance.

From there, it subsided and I felt I needed to do more.

Here is where everything that could have gone wrong almost did.

I repacked our hookah (approx. 1/4g) and both of us decided to smoke it. My roommate took a huge hit and held it in for what he felt was nearly a minute, I took approximately 3 large hits, holding each for maybe 10-15 seconds each (it should also be noted that since I had smoked earlier, time lapse was still very much in effect so each felt like it was taking foever to hold in).

When I looked over at my roommate, he gave a very distorted, confused look on his face for probably a nanosecond, yet this was enough to make me burst out laughing.

Summary: He ends up lying down on the futon and I end up in a corner against a dresser laughing maniacally.

His account of this:
I don't really remember it well. I stood up and felt a great weight on my legs. The all of a sudden I was laying down. I saw these colors flashing by my head and I remember what you had said about the colors but I couldn't help but think 'this probably isn't what you were talking about...'

My account:
After bursting out laughing the first time, there is a memory lapse for me and then all of a sudden my roommate is laying down and he's saying something to the likes of, 'this is getting pretty intense...' and that makes me start laughing again, even harder.

This is where things get really internal in my head and pretty funny in retrospect.

While he is saying, 'this is getting pretty intense...' I start hearing in the back of my mind an engine revving, getting louder and louder, as if something big is about to boil over into an all-out trip my ass off experience. I see in the back of my mind (yet I feel like they're right behind my soulder) two hillbillies sitting in a truck revving their engine like crazy.
My laughing became progessively more insane (head still very clear at this point though).

I then went into our kitchen and sat down, laughing at our lights for what seemed five minutes.

Once again, the effects subsided and I was able to walk again into our room and put some music on. I then went outside to grab a bit of food down the street (the salvia wasn't completely worn off). Never before have I seen such vivid colors and textures on a stretch of road I walk every day.

End point and retrospective summary:
- My roommate and I agree it is very enjoyably. I mean what is not to like about this?
- It's short lasting, yet farily intense.
- Funny as hell.
- Visual(light)/Auditory/and Time perspective shift.
- No hangover or tiredness afterward.

Effects experienced:
Time perspective shift
Visual 'warmth' and also something to the likes of tunnel vision
Maniacal laughing
Internal auditory generation (engine revving sounds)
Massively heightened senses

Note: I wrote this about 40 minutes after our experiment and my roommate has already gone to class about 30 minutes after the experience.
