Mimosa Effect on Minds of Different People

I became interested in ayahuasca when I read about it online in late 2004. In february 2005 I purchased some mimosa hostilis and peganum harmala from a reliable website. It wasn't that expensive and though I had some concerns about the shipment getting stuck in customs everything went great and I received the package 2 weeks later.

I told my friend about the purchase and he was thrilled. So was I. I traveled to the city he lives in and we tripped in his friend's apartment. His friend was somewhat psychotic and a peculiar guy with a history of severe mental disorders. I was concerned about him taking a psychedelic but he had taken many strong psychedelics before and was stubborn so I figured that it really doesn't concern me. So we brew a tea of 30g, 10g for each one of us. Took some pulverized harmala 3g each about 40 mins before ingesting the tea.

We drank the tea from small shotglasses in a timespan of about 5-10 minutes. Already feeling kind of funny from the harmala. 15 minutes later I began to feel very odd. Emotions seemed to fluctuate alot. The dominant feeling was anxiety (and nausea). We turned the lights off because the colors were so distracting. Listened to some psytrance. The house seemed to move with the rhythm of the music. My friend had to lie down some 25 minutes after taking the tea and seemed to have an intense trip going.

The owner of the house seemed pretty disorientated so I asked him if he was ok. He said that all the small items on the carpet were so distracting. So he asked me to take the items away. I was happy that I could help him so I took the items to the kitchen. On my way back I suddenly felt the urge to vomit and vomited in the bucket we had brought to the living room. The houseowner then became nauseous too and pushed me aside to vomit. We took turns vomiting and the girls who were there had a big laugh over the vomit-festival. I also started to laugh and laughed very hard for a couple of minutes. Lying on the carpet I felt myself sink to the floor and eyes closed I felt intensely good and saw a CEV of a catwoman staring me to my eyes. She was very attractive.

The anxiety left mostly and I was left with a feeling of intense wellbeing. My friend was lying on a bed still having an intense trip. He hadn't purged like me and the other guy. So we listened to music and enjoyed the odd vibes. I felt crazy but good at the same time. We then went out with the girls. My friend stayed with another guy. He was still pretty out there.

The city was magical with all the lights and people. I chatted with this pretty girl while we were walking, almost got hit by a car but she grabbed me aside. We went to the stairs of a big church and sat there for a while. I chatted some more with her, she sure seemed nice.

Then we went to a store to buy some soda and stuff. The houseowner spotted some friend of his there and they had a car. So we went to the car but the nice girl left =( The guy dropped us at the house again. We weren't in and my friend was still lying on the bed but got up soon after we came. Probably because he didn't vomit he had more intense and deep experience and was still pretty high. We played card and laughed our asses off. Then the houseowner went to sleep and we went out to get something to eat. We ate some kebab and head back to the house and slept. Next day I felt somewhat irritated.
Next day I felt somewhat irritated.
I sold the rest of the Mimosa to my friend and took a train home.

So they both took another dose that same day and the houseowner tried to stab my friend. Luckily nobody got hurt. Well that was expected, the guy shouldn't been taking any drugs IMO with all the problems he was having.

Friend #2 also tried this tea but he was too impatient to properly make the tea and ended having heavy nausea and mild effects. Maybe that's individual though.

Friend #3 became pretty messed up some time after his trip (during which he had a bad panic attack). One could say that he has lost his marbles. The day after his trip he seemed okay and well. I think the experience brought some unconscious stuff up that he can't deal with. He had used lots of different drugs before including some psychedelics. The dose was just 10g of Mimosa-tea and 4g Harmala. feel very bad about this because I provided the drug. The trip may well have permanent effects on his life. I hope he gets better.

Friend #4 said that god spoke to her and she had intense visuals. But overall she said the experience was positive.

The moral of the story is that psychedelics can have very mind-altering effects that last well after the trip. One should approach them with respect and cautiousness. If you have some sort of issues that you haven't dealt with or have mental problems, taking ayahuasca might not be a good idea. It might be a very rough ride. At least be careful with the dosage. When you lose your 'sanity' (whatever it means to be sane, maybe the ability to function in certain situations) you really miss it afterwards.

Though many people say ayahuasca has had a very positive effect on their mental/spiritual wellbeing one should remember it can still have very adverse effects. Everyone has their own individual minds and some people are better at dealing with experiences of this nature.

I've found ayahuasca to boost my spirits and I've integrated something valuable from the experiences. It has also made me ponder about my life and things in general from different perspective than normally. Some experiences have been more intense than others but none of them a 'bad trip'. I haven't taken Mimosa for a few months now. I've been focusing on more 'material' things like education, work and exercising.
