My therapist with some reluctance prescribed this for my severe generalized anxiety/panic disorder, because I had violent physical and psycho-somatic reactions to the newer psychotropic drugs. With Klonopin, so far so good--the anxiety is lessened in a nondramatic way, I have suffered no dizziness, loss of coordination, 'drunken' effects or cravings for the medication. I can still read and concentrate and it wears off gradually. I do not feel 'strange' or doped-up. As it happens, I am not the addictive type, so perhaps my experience is not indicative or representative, but it strikes me that this medication is a relatively low-tech solution that gets a bad rap.
