I sat down at my computer to write, about 10 minutes after taking the Ambien. Things started off well, but about 20-30 minutes into writing my paper I became very nervous. My computer is right next to a window, which leads out to our horse barns a short walk away through a small wooded area. It was very dark outside, and I could swear I was seeing shadows (what I assumed were fast moving zombies) running by. I kept typing my paper, attempting to ignore the figures that darted past my window, then I got the idea in my head that out in one of our horse pastures, there were large blue robots with giant spindle like legs walking around, overseeing... something. Some sort of plot to do with our pastures. These ideas turned into reality, or something like it, the best way I can describe it would be a nightmare while I was still awake. Everything was real, but I didn't see any of it, it was all in my head, yet right in front of me. They had giant spotlights on their heads and some voice said they were 'looking, looking for you!'
I started to panic, the figures continued to dart past my window, and my mind was filled with visions of these nefarious blue spindley-legged robots less than 100 yards from my window. In my panic, I snagged the cable to our wireless internet receiver and it fell from it's place in our window (where it gets the best reception) to the ground, about 5 feet. When it hit the ground, it exploded into many many small flaming pieces, but when I leaned over to grab it, it was one solid object again, as if nothing had happened. Once I grabbed it, it burned my fingers and I dropped it immediately to examine them. My fingertips were blistered red, and I looked at the receiver, which had marks where my fingers had been. I looked back at my hands, and they were completely fine, as was the receiver.
I replaced the receiver back in the window, and had an AIM conversation with a friend describing everything I saw, thought, and feared. I even drew a picture in MSpaint of the giant blue robots.
I did not finish my essay, and I went to bed shortly thereafter.
It was quite easy to stay awake, I did feel a little woozy at the very beginning, but did not fully notice it as I typed my essay. I was very scared when the effects hit, which was roughly 20-30 minutes after ingesting the pill. Perhaps if it were daylight my accident would have turned out better, but I do not plan on using this as a recreational drug.
