This experience occured during my freshman year of college. Me and a couple of friends had procured a bit of salvia divinorum 60X extract. I had heard some things about the legal hallucinagen before, but NOTHING could have prepared me for the trip that I was about to endure.

I went down to the river with three of my friends plus another one who came as a trip sitter. Two of my friends sat on a bench as I sat on the ground with another. We packed a bowl full of the stuff, and I was the first one to hit it.

I inhaled and held it in for 20 seconds and then exhaled. Everyone was looking at me to see what would happen. At first, I couldn't feel anything, and then I started to feel the slight sensation that there were hooks in my neck. I ignored this and took another hit...BIG MISTAKE! I don't remember exhaling this hit or passing the bowl...the next thing I remember is a loud clicking sound that seemed to be approaching me from behind. I tried to talk, but all I could say was baaa baaa. Then I looked to my left at my friend and I noticed I was surrounded by 40 or so of him. I think (I don't really remember) that I freaked out at this point, because my trip sitting friend later told me that I bugged out randomly and tried to run into the river, an event I have NO recollection of. So anyway, this apparently went on for some amount of time and the next thing I remember is someone saying we should get out of here and go inside. I don't know why but at the time this seemed like the greatest idea I had ever heard. We were stumbling inside, and I remember seeing this handrail next to me, I kept trying to grab it, but there was nothing there. I was really starting to freak out, feeling as though this was never going to end. Although we had only done this 15 minutes ago, I felt like I had been tripping for hours.

The rest of this story is from my trip sitter, because I don't remember anything else. We apparently got inside the dorm, and were all walking to my room, when we ran into my R.A. Apparently, I had a 3 minute, completely coherent conversation with her and then went into my room. I don't remember this. Anyway, we all went into my room, and apparently, I started looking down at my feet and laughing hysterically (your guess is as good as mine). Then, a minute or so later, I began to come down, and it was soon all over.

I must say, this drug is not fun, and for me, it was quite scary. I lost all touch with reality, and was scared that it was never going to end. All of my friends who did it said that it was bad, but it only lasted a couple of minutes for them, so they got to watch me trip out for a while. Whatever. I tried it again once more since then (40X extract, 3 hits), and had a not-so-bad experience. It wasn't really much. I thought one of my hands was huge and laughed for like 10 minutes. Nothing compared to my first salvia trip, and my first foray into psychedelics.
