a bitter chemical layer slowly melting on my tongue
revealing a dull white pill beneath
crushed and chopped like a clove of the finest garlic

cut the straw and savour the feeling
of the powder that clings to the nasal membrane
releasing itself
into the network of nerve cells

the itchy warmth, the fire that begins within
spreads to the tips of the fingers and toes
calming the mind, and easing the pain
both physical - emotional

the depression fades and my stress dissolves
it all disintegrates
replaced by a pure content
Heaven has been found

pharmaceutical pleasure
encapsulated in a minuscule pill
the answer to all the problems of life
my escape, my getaway to a place of delightful bliss
ecstasy in my veins
gratification throughout my soul
