Not Fantastic, But Not Bad
Tobacco

DOSE:
1 hit sublingual Tobacco
BODY WEIGHT: 230 lb
A friend of mine had been chewing tobacco for years. I saw him do it frequently and the whole process looked kind of disgusting, especially the bottle he kept with him to spit into constantly, so I never had any interest in it. I often asked him why he did it, what kind of experience he got from it that kept him coming back, and his answers were never satisfactory. He'd tell me that it made him feel lightheaded and energetic, and that was about it.

Eventually curiosity got the best of me, and I had to give it a shot. Now, his brand of choice is Skoal, which apparently isn't quite chewing tobacco but dip, something you just hold in your mouth. He showed me how to take a small pinch of it and place it between my lip and gum at the front of my mouth(he suggested more than I took, but I didn't want to overdo it). He strongly advised that I not swallow any of it if I didn't want to vomit, so I was careful to avoid that. My throat got pretty dry because I didn't even swallow any of my own saliva for fear of getting sick.

I waited with the dip under my lip for a few minutes, not knowing what to expect, if anything. I honestly didn't expect much. Then, within just a few minutes, the feeling rushed onto me. It was exactly that; a rush. Suddenly I was wide awake, my whole body felt completely energized and I almost wanted to jump around. We went for a long walk, and it felt good to expend the energy. I got really talkative, and I can most easily relate the sensation to drinking four or five Red Bulls and feeling the effects at once. I couldn't believe how strong it was, and it felt really good.

There being a downside to everything, the pleasant effects lasted what I would consider an incredibly short time, maybe ten or fifteen minutes. After that, I just wasn't feeling that good energy anymore and was getting annoyed with the tobacco under my lip, so I spit it out. The gradual come down from that energetic 'high' left me with the sort of vaguely nauseous emptyheaded feeling you might have when you're getting over an illness. I didn't feel sick, just not well.

Overall, though it was a pleasant experience while it lasted, it's not something I feel any desire to seek out again. If you're badly in need of a quick burst of energy, it might be useful, but be prepared for it to be over quickly and for the after effects to leave you feeling a bit worse off than when you started.
