I've also had 2 dud brews which I attribute to lack of boil time/shredding and/or crappy Peruvian chacruna/ and or a bad impatient attitude. They did allow me to get a feel for caapi however.
This time I used:
28g Hawaiian chacruna
90g yellow B. Caapi.
I originally thought that this caapi was low grade because it appears to have alot of bark and stem shredded in with it but I've read and 1st-handedly decided that it probably enhances the experience. I won't really know until I try another vendors'.
After doing research on croc pots I learned that the actual CrocPot brand slow-cooker (which is what I have) is designed to heat up to a maximum of 209 degrees Fahrenheit regardless of the 'high' or 'low' setting. (contrary to what I've read on sites about slow-cookers... The croc brand differentiates high and low by the time it takes to get to 209). I finely powdered my ingredients in the blender and put them in the pot with about 1 liter of distilled water and 4tbsp lime juice. Pot was set on high for around 12 hours. With the lid on it achieved simmering status in about 1 hour. (very important to keep the lid on or it won't get hot enough)
I then drained and filtered this into a bottle and repeated 2 more times, once for 12 hours and once for 5.
I will note that on the 3rd attempt I ran out of distilled water and used tap instead. I wouldn't recommend it but it didn't seem to mess anything up.
I put around 1/2 a teaspoon of baking soda into my brew when done to neutralize some of the lime juice. The final product tasted sour but I'm thinking not as sour as it would've otherwise.
I did a 4th boil on the stovetop for 1 hour with more tap water. The water did turn yellow and I'm sure it had some alkaloids but it was very light colored.
Reduced into 1/2 of a coffee cup worth on the stove
I drank the brew at 10:10pm in my pitch black bedroom after meditating for most of an hour to bring my nervous self to a state of calm.
It took over 1 hour to take effect, leading me to 1st believe I'd made another dud brew.
Around the hour and 20 mark I began to experience the 1st waves of what I can only describe as amazing. The experience was only comparable to something between mushrooms and MDMA. I started momentarily acquiring the 'essences' of several people close to me. Basically experiencing the emotional shaping of their lives and deeply empathizing with them.
At one point my internal dialogue told me to be submissive to the brew. I had a sudden erotic fantasy/vision of BSDM. I've never really found that appealing but I can now fully understand the appeal. My fantasy ended short when my dominatrix was overcome by my love and our love became one. This was symbolic to how the ayahuasca made me feel.
My stomach felt horrible but I never vomited. I could feel the medicine make its way to my intestines and heal where it needed to be. I was in miserable pain but I knew it was good for me and it was a blissful state. I felt so alive. When the the urge hit I went to the bathroom to butt pee for awhile. I can only describe the feeling using the comparison of giving birth. Not in the physical way but in the emotional way. I felt like I was creating new life but really I was just cleansing mine I guess.
The peak of all this happened on the toilet. I can't describe it using grammatical person/semantics/syntax.
My consciousness reached the point where I/he/she/it no longer applied. I don't know if I want to call it complete ego-loss but I was on this level of some type of universal human consciousness/empathy/gaian mind it was a brief experience. During the course of the comedown I felt a deep connection to every cell in my body. I felt extremely alive and buzzing... Masculine, feminine, love... The experience was exactly what I needed. I was originally hoping for some sort of crazy mystical astral projection type event, but I continually learn I'm in no way ready for such a thing.
I'm really glad I got to experience chacruna and caapi together. It makes me never want to touch rue again.
The crockpot method worked wonderfully. The key to this brew was patience and finely powdering my ingredients.
Mimosa hostilis will probably be my next ad-mixture. I can't say that I'm ready for it but I will give it a try. I would also like to get ahold of food-grade phosphoric acid for the hummingbird tek.
