As you can tell by the 420 after my name, I have been a heavy marijuana user for many years. But within the last few months, I have been trying to quit. I've found the process very difficult. But unfortunately, I seem to be outgrowing the marijuana smoking stage of my life. The only thing that keeps me going is the thought of entering a new, and hopefully better, stage in my life. I hope this is not the so-called 'gateway' that was preached to me for most of my life! I'm currently not addicted to percocet, but I take it more regularly now.
I've started to notice more and more of the effects. Instead of being a sedative, I think percocet can make me a little anxious and hyper at times. I've been trying to figure this out and the only conclusion I've drawn is that it may be the acetaphetamine also contained in the pill. But this actually adds to my euphoria - I have good energy and I'm able to get my work done. I like the balance offered by percocet. It also works wonders at relieving pain - which I'm also experiencing more as I get older, unfortunately. I also like the fact that percocet lasts a long time. I'm usually feeling the effects for a good 6-10 hours after taking it. I usually don't peak for an hour or two after ingestion. But when it hits me, I feel wonderful. Then as I start to come down after 4-6 hours, I feel myself becoming a little agitated. If there are people around me, I start to become impatient with them. But up until that point, people are my friends. I am able to socialize comfortably, which is something that I'm unable to do sober. This drug is helping me greatly with my growing pains both physically and emotionally.
I also find it useful for anxiety. Benzodiazepines just make me tired and numb. They are great sleep aids, but I need something to fight my anxiety during the day. I remember taking percocet on the 4th of July a few years ago and I absolutely loved it. It was so dreamy and romantic. It was the closest I've come to ideally experiencing the holiday.
