DOSE:
1/3 oz oral Yohimbe (tea)
BODY WEIGHT: 170 lb
I recently found a local herb store with a good selection and great prices. Most herbs there were $1.50 to $2.50 for an ounce, so I picked up some cut yohimbe root as well as an assortment of other herbs. This morning I decided to try the yohimbe again and figured it would give me some energy for class today. I had tried smoking yohimbe before, since I had heard that this is what is done by the indigenous people where yohimbe grows. Smoking seemed to produce mild effects but I was looking for a stronger kick.

So, I had done some reading up but wasn't sure if yohimbine was alcohol or water soluable. Following the advice from another report, I mixed just enough 153 proof grain alcohol to cover 1/3 oz of yohimbe that I pulverized with a mortar and pestle. I put this on low heat on the stove until all of the alcohol had evaporated. After that I added water and brewed on low heat for several minutes. The mixture was dark rust red in color. I took it off the heat and strained out the root material.

I drank this over a period of about 15 minutes. It actually doesn't taste bad but it dried my mouth out. After about 20 minutes I noticed my heart rate increasing. It felt like a sped up caffeine buzz, but my body felt tired instead. Approximately 30 min in I started experiencing increased salivation and nauseousness. This was in the morning and I hadn't eaten yet, so I followed advice from another report to eat something (respect the yohimbe! Eat light and starchy, no cheese and meat). I ate 3 slices of wheat bread and instantly felt better. The yohimbe also effected my bowels. Obvious diuretic effect is evident, similar to the diuretic effects of caffeine. My heart rate is still elevated currently 3 hours later, I'm about to head to class. Before I was feeling so sped up that I was getting chills, but I'm more comfortable now. A caffeine like buzz that lasts longer, however it isn't as great at stimulating mental activity I don't think.
