In 2009, I got an exceptionally bad case of shingles and was prescribed Gabapentin by my doctor to help relieve the pain. The Gabapentin was effective at 1200 mg three times a day (3600 mg a day total), so my doctor prescribed multiple bottles so that I would have plenty in case I ever suffered from post-herpetic neuralgia.

As someone who will occasionally use drugs for recreational purposes, I decided recently to try Gabapentin at a high dose to see what would happen. The first time I tried 3600 mg all in one dose since 3600 mg in one day seemed to be fine. I became very talkative and felt very detached from my own body. All in all, it was a pleasurable experience.

Since 3600 mg worked well, I decided recently to try a much higher dose. This time I took 9000 mg in one dose. The effects were profound. Others have mentioned feeling like a zombie while on Gabapentin, and that description could not be more accurate. I was no longer talkative like I was on 3600 mg. This time I felt completely detached from the world around me and would just stand or sit in place for hours at a time, not thinking at all about the world around me. I eventually went to sleep, but when I woke up eleven hours after taking the dose I still felt like a zombie. The effects began to wear off about twelve or thirteen hours after the initial dose.

All in all, I enjoyed the experience.
