Like a lot of people, I read some reports online about how a common landscaping plant is supposedly psychoactive. I realized I have one of these growing on my porch so I decided to try it out.

Background info: 32 years old. Marijuana smoker for about 15 years, regular drinker and tobacco smoker. I have experimented with many substances, LSD, meth, coke, JWH-018, shrooms, salvia, MDMA and practically every illegal drug out there. Needless to say I have some experience with recreational drugs.

After reading a few reports on how to use coleus, I decided to go for it. My particular plant happened to be flowering so I cut off one of the flower stalks and collected about 6 of the biggest leaves. I placed the leaves on a napkin and stuck them in a 900 watt microwave for about a minute thirty until they were dry and crispy.

While they were in the microwave, I decided to pluck off the white/purple flowers (which were really tiny) and smoke them first. I keep a pipe reserved for legal herbs only, so there is no chance of getting a residual buzz from marijuana. I stuffed them into the pipe and inhaled deeply, holding in the smoke for at least ten seconds. The flowers had a pleasant aroma, no coughing or burning of the lungs. A minute later I definitely begin to feel something, although I'm not quite sure what it is.

I then crumbled up the dried leaves and began to smoke them as well. The aroma was definitely stronger and more harsh than the flowers, but tolerable and still no coughing. After a few lungfuls of smoke, I start to feel it in my face, like it was starting to flush. After about five to ten minutes of smoking about 3 leaves worth, I was overcome with a sense of well-being and relaxation. I feel it even more in my face, and the only way I can describe it is when I have been laughing for a long period of time and my face muscles start to tighten and almost cramp up.

I smoked a few more bowls but the harshness was starting to burn my throat so I put it down and just stared at the tv for a little while. It was sort of hard to concentrate but I didn't really experience any visuals although I did have a small sense of visual disturbance. About thirty minutes later the whole thing was over and I still had a slight feeling of well-being which didn't last much longer.

I suspect the oral route would provide a better experience, as the effects are so subtle I would probably have to smoke a lot of it to even get anything out of it. Overall, not bad if I'm bored or desperate.
