Voacanga africana

DOSE: |
10 g | oral | Voacanga africana | (rootbark) |
smoked | Cannabis |
BODY WEIGHT: | 175 lb |
When I had a good opportunity, I decided to attempt boiling the substance and drinking the remaining liquid. Two others (N and C) were also interested in joining the experiment. I ended up boiling approximately 45g of the bark, with the intent of splitting into three portions.
After about a half hour of boiling, the resulting liquid was strained out and poured into drinking vessels. Consumption soon proved difficult. The liquid was probably the most bitter I had ever tried to force down. N and I tried various methods of adding huge amounts of sugar and lemonade powder, while C decided to wait and see if the disgust was worth it.
N and I became mildly ill. The nausea I experienced seemed to only be a result of the foul taste (I had previously tried Hawaiian Baby Woodrose seeds, which made me vomit after maybe 20 minutes of ingestion. Voacanga stopped being nauseating after the taste went away). Eventually, after wallowing in unpleasant feelings, N and I resorted to smoking cannabis in an attempt to ease our unhappiness.
In conclusion, voacanga produced mild but manageable nausea and no noticeable psychoactive effects. Not recommended.
