It was just another boring night of the holidays, I was biking over to my friend 'C's house to get high or drunk or whatever we could get our hands on.
When I arrived he showed me a prescription bottle for 'zolpidem 10mg' I had heard of them before having recently having a prescription for lorazepam which ignited an interest in benzo type drugs. there were 30 in the bottle.
We both decided to take one to see what it was like. As we were taking them C told me that one his friends M was coming over. She was into getting high with us occasionally so we assumed she'd be into it.
So about 15 minutes later i stood up to go toilet and almost fell straight over. My balance was gone, I couldn't believe it. I went bathroom and noticed I felt really relaxed and out of it. I felt like I did not care about anything.
When I got back to C's room M was there, she'd taken one too and was talking to C who was laughing and flopping around on the bed obviously enjoying the effects. I sat on the ground and put on some music. I can't remember what but it sounded very nice.
About 20 minutes I made a very bad decision, but because I was so out of it I thought it was fine, I asked for more. We both thought it was a great idea so I took six more right there and then. I don't know why I did this I never over do drugs usually, needless to say it was a very bad decision. I remember C and M acting out some sex positions and I felt like I wasn't even real, like a was a floating piece of conciousness.
This is where things get hazy. I remember being on facebook at C's house. Then I have a faint idea of biking through a street with shops on. I must have made it home safe, but I don't remember it, or waking up the next day, my next memory is being in the shower trying to stand straight and washing my hair. Somehow I must have set my alarm to the right time because I had a psychiatrist appointment that morning at 10 30. Next memory was walking out the door to the car and hearing my mum ask if I was ok to drive. She said I seemed very out of it or something.
[Erowid Note: Driving while intoxicated, tripping, or extremely sleep deprived is dangerous and irresponsible because it endangers other people. Don't do it!]
The next bit is the worst, I drove 20 minutes on the crowded motorway, had a 1 hour appointment and drove back and I have no memory of this whatsoever. I thought I was fine. I regret this very much and as soon as I was sober enough to realise what I'd done, which was the next day I could not believe this string of images which seemed like a dream had been reality. I could have died or killed someone so easily. I am very lucky to be ok.
I gradually regained memory over that day and by the next day I was fine, I think.
But this stuff is scary. It made me do stupid things. I will be very wary next time I encounter this stuff which thankfully has not happened for over 2 years.
