One day I went to a Chinese buffet and as I was parking the car I became glued to the radio listening to an interview with Jonah Lehrer. He was talking about amphetamines and how some artists became very prolific (productive) taking them. If there is one thing I am NOT, it is productive. I suddenly became very aware that my son has some Adderall and I wanted to see what it could do for me.
The first thing I did was some research to see if I might be a candidate for taking it. I decided I would probably be alright and I made a mental note of the side effects and dangers to watch for. I also read an account that advised to take it no more than once a week to avoid addiction. I felt that was excellent advice which I decided to adopt.
My son was no longer taking his Adderall, but his prescription bottle had four 5 mg capsules left. In order to take them without raising suspicion from my wife, I emptied them two at a time into some other gelatin capsules and replaced the drug in the original caps with powdered gelatin. So I had basically made two 10 mg capsules of Adderall XR.
I decided I would take one the next day and see if I could finish an I.Q. test I had put off for over a year. I woke up the next morning and felt like I had some good sleep. It felt like a good time to try one. I had no headache and no responsibilities for the day. So, down the hatch.
I immediately loaded up the I.Q. test which I had saved on a thumb drive. It is a test which has no time limit and I can work on it at my leisure. But I had just not been able to motivate myself to finish it. It sat around like a project that I came to dread. However, as I worked on it I started to get into it a bit.
About three hours later I decided to put it aside. I started to play an MMORPG that I was into. I really wasn't sure this stuff was working. I didn't know what to expect. It seemed I had an increased ability to focus, but I didn't really know what to make of it.
After playing my game for several hours, I brought the test back out and started working on it again. It had to be twelve hours after taking the drug. I was still wide awake.
It had to be twelve hours after taking the drug. I was still wide awake.
I was able to go over previous answers that I had come up with over a year ago and discovered some errors. I was able to not only figure out some new answers, but I could also check my work based on my logic and verify that I was answering correctly. I was astonished at my persistence and my ability to reason.
I discovered I could answer questions I had previously resolved I was going to skip because I thought they were 'beyond' my abilities. I was not only able to figure them out, but I actually enjoyed doing so. Eventually, I put the test aside again. I still had not finished it, but I was extremely pleased with how well I had answered the first few sections. I'm saving the rest of the test for the other Adderall XR.
When I finally put the test away, it had been over 24 hours. This was MUCH longer than I had expected to be awake. Afterward I was tired but had trouble getting to sleep. I ended up falling asleep a few hours later (after laying in bed feeling my heart pounding).
I was amazed at how intense my concentration was. So intense that I realised I hadn't eaten. So intense that when my wife came in to talk to me, I was irritable and short with her (exactly like my son had acted when he was taking Adderall).
It has been over a week now. I plan on taking the other Adderall after I wake up (if I feel I had some good sleep). I am convinced that this drug raised my I.Q. while it was active. Adderall gave a bona fide boost to my intelligence, in my opinion.
Afterward, there was no noticeable withdrawal. I did not feel compelled to try it again right away. Staying up for 24 hours was not something I want to do very often. I can now see how a person could lose weight on this drug. I also see why it is popular on college campuses.
But I feel it has limited use for me. I do not want to lose weight by getting addicted to Adderall due to potential heart complications. It is expensive to buy online, so I'm also not really interested in becoming a frequent user. It seems to have a very narrow range of potential for taking tests and perhaps doing some intense studying.
I really wonder if 'Attention Deficit Disorder' wasn't really a diagnosis invented to make use of drugs like this. It would probably be excellent if I were in a competitive chess match. I've also read about a guy who made a million dollars playing poker while on Adderall. I can see why. I didn't realise how advantageous an improved ability to concentrate could be.
