I have experienced marijuana, alcohol, salvia, lsd, vicodin, oxycodone, oxymorphone, cocaine, mdma, methamphetamine, dxm, amphetamine, nitrous oxide, and ketamine. I was (or perhaps just am but in remission) a chronic alcoholic, and have been clean for around 18 months. I still suffer from depression, anxiety, and insomnia. I had read that kava could help with some of these symptoms, and am amazed at the results.

After telling my friend about this substance, he went ahead and ordered a bag of root powder from an online vendor. We prepared it in the traditional way, soaking and mixing it for a good ten minutes. It tastes terrible. I mean god awful. But as with alcohol, the effects it provides are well worth the effort.

We sat down on the couch, and started to consume the kava. Finishing one glass, I got up to get another and realized my mouth was totally numb, and every muscle in my body was totally relaxed. After two more glasses, I started to realize that I did not have a care in the world. Usually, I am a very stressed and anxious individual. Not then, as we sat there, drank kava and watched tv for around five hours and had no concept of the time passing us by. I attempted to think of things that would harbor an emotional response, but nothing arose. I had a inner peace and comfort that one rarely finds in this world.
