[Erowid Note: Our understanding of the literature is that there is no such thing as safe recreational use of volatile solvents, aerosols and other street inhalants : their psychoactive effects are inseparable from nerve and organ damage. We have chosen to include these reports to help document the real world use of inhalants, but their inclusion is not intended to imply that they are anything but dangerous.] I used to huff duster back in my early teens. At first we did it for the same reason kids suck helium; it makes your voice change but lower pitched. After a few rounds of doing 'Darth Vader' impressions we realized we were getting high as fuck and after that used it alot.

Anyways speed up to the present. I was bored and I had a can that I had bought for cleaning my xbox. I felt nostalgic and decided to take some hits. It pretty much went like this: Take a hit, hold it in. I got tunnel vision almost immediately and started hearing everything distort like 'wowowowowow' and some mild visual hallucinations of sparkles. After I let out my breath I came back down to earth and just vibed on a mild, lingering euphoria. Its cool to play music while I do it. Pretty good feeling and one of those cans has A LOT of hits. I was off my gourd for an entire evening!

The bad part is that I eventually got kind of delusional. I was watching tv and I heard my neighbors in the next apt. watching the same show. They started arguing with each other about the show and I felt they were talking about me or making fun of me for not getting the shows humor or that my tv was much too loud. Really bizzare.

The next morning I felt kind of light headed and lethargic at work. But seriously, this stuff is BAD NEWS. Its very addicting and I can easily huff too much and black out, I took it pretty easy this time and made sure to get plenty of air between hits. Back in my youth however, we used to go through cans upon cans. One of my buddies got all giddy and tried to jump off a roof, another huffed while driving and blacked out an only narrowly avoided a bad wreck. This Difluoroethane stuff displaces O2 so it just accumulates in the bottom of my lungs asphyxiating me. It was fun for me to relive the old airduster high for a night but I am not doing this again. Sticking to booze and pot!
