This is a report on my experiences combining 5-MeO-DALT (a synthetic tryptamine) and MDAI (an ecstasy analogue). I have chosen to write about these experiences to share my impressions of these drugs from an aesthetic, rather than analytical, perspective, and in writing this report do not intend for it to be read as an endorsement of mixing unfamiliar substances. Prior to the first trip described in this report, I had tasted very small doses of both of these chemicals to ensure I was not allergic. If you are eating synthetic drugs new to your system, always, always do this.

*****
I am 18 years old and well-experienced with psychedelics for my age. Excluding things that didn't do anything for me (cocaine, Seroquel) or just made me feel like vomiting (OxyContin), my personal drug use history includes: Caffeine (in the form of black coffee, every day since the age of 11), marijuana (virtually every day since the age of 17), synthetic marijuana (infrequently, only when offered, and not currently), psilocybin mushrooms (an estimated 6 or 7 times, once in a dose of 7 grams), Salvia divinorum (roughly 10 times but with only one noteworthy breakthrough experience), LSA (a single dose of unknown quantity that made me trip for 12 hours and vomit twice), Amanita muscaria (twice, with minimal results), alcohol (occasionally since a few months ago), 2C-E (about 5 times), and MDMA (twice, once with psilocybin mushrooms).

As an enthusiastic seeker of new drug experiences, I was intrigued to learn about an obscure and controversial psychedelic with the austere moniker of 5-MeO-DALT. I say 'controversial' since virtually no two experience reports about this chemical that I read even seemed to be describing the same substance. Everyone who believed they had ingested it either found it overwhelmingly intense or underwhelmingly mild, a discrepancy at least partially explained by the abundance of bogus chemical powders being sold online. The web site from which I bought my 5-MeO-DALT presented itself as a manufacturer of gas chromatography components 'not for human consumption.' Easy as those lines are to read between, I still wanted some assurance that the raw chemical I was about to eat was really the tryptamine Shulgin described as capable of inducing +++ CEVs, and not bath salts or crushed-up Xanax or some other gross thing.

In the name of psychonautical exploration, I apprehensively filled a plastic bag with 5-MeO-DALT, some MDAI obtained from the same vendor, and a broken gel capsule of 2C-E I crushed up and dropped in the bag of loose powder just to see if it could be detected. I mailed this to the lab that operates ecstasydata.org (a really cool web site that publishes drug purity test results, if you're not completely terrified of anonymously putting Schedule I substances and a shitload of cash in the postal system), and in two weeks I recognized my bag of drugs at the top of the page: 5-MeO-DALT, MDAI, 2C-E. 'Lab comments: This is a weird mix of substances.' Ha! [see EcstasyData result for Broken Capsule 27016]

After much careful consideration regarding dosage, set, and setting, I finally decided to just mix the 5-MeO-DALT and MDAI together haphazardly and eat a 1/3-full gel capsule alone in front of The Twilight Zone at 9 pm. Safety first, kids. (I only felt comfortable doing this because I knew both of the powders were pure and I could tell the dose couldn't be over 100mg.)

I watched about two episodes of the Zone (the best show to trip to), but as I was coming up I kept closing my eyes to just enjoy the sounds of the actors' voices. I was more or less following the plot lines but kept spacing out on the dialogue. I think this was mostly because I was getting tired, but the familiar psychedelic feeling was definitely becoming apparent, and psychedelics often make me notice and appreciate the nuances of ordinary sounds more than usual. Eventually the episode about the guy whose car haunts him after he commits a hit-and-run came on, and the recurring noise of the old car horn blaring spontaneously was quite irksome to my half-asleep, psychedelicized brain, so I switched off the TV and went to bed.

I can almost never sleep while tripping because of the stimulation of autonomous thought that tends to occur on psychedelics, as well as the weird body high that comes with some psychedelics like mushrooms and (especially) 2C-E. However, the combination of 5-MeO-DALT and MDAI was physically very smooth, like strong marijuana. There was a persistent tingling in my feet and hands (which felt somehow larger), but nothing overwhelming. CEVs became constant and had a candy-swirl quality; when I opened my eyes in the dark they remained as vivid as before. The walls felt very tall and far away and my thoughts were colored clouds colliding at a hundred miles an hour. It probably took me a couple of hours to get to sleep, but the trip went into REM seamlessly at some point and I awoke promptly at 10 the next morning feeling perfectly sober.

This was a strong and uniquely 'easy' psychedelic experience which I definitely did not expect from these strange synthetic powders. Having tripped on 300mg MDMA tablets prior to this experience, I believe the 5-MeO-DALT was the more active ingredient of the blending responsible for this trip as MDAI is a significantly less potent analogue of MDMA. However, it is possible that the 5-MeO-DALT could have acted as a 'potentiator,' enhancing the effect of the small amount of MDAI present in the capsule. Subsequent trips yielded very similar results, though one occasion left me with a persistent psychedelic hangover.

5-MeO-DALT is legal everywhere in the world except Japan (?!?!?!?). As a person acquainted with obscure hallucinogens, I believe this chemical definitely warrants further exploration and would highly recommend this it to any and all responsible adults interested in new routes of conscience expansion. We live in a vast and constantly changing spectrum of cultures, and our collective human civilization has produced, discovered, and refined so many amazing things that have come to make up what we perceive as the world in which we live. The fact that we have such marvelous molecules as 5-MeO-DALT readily and commercially available to us is a phenomenon of itself. We must respect what the universe has offered us to use as we will, and use it wisely.
