- Dimenhydrinate and DiphenhydramineDimenhydrinate is the 8-chlorotheophyllinate salt of diphenhydramine. The effects of both compounds are due to the same active principle, with one of the major differences between the two substance being dosage (50 mg of dimenhydrinate is equivalent to approximately 25 mg of diphenhydramine hydrochloride).
