Flunitrazepam is a benzodiazepine used as a sleep medication favored for its rapid onset and long duration. Flunitrazepam has a half-life of over 14 hours and an active metabolite, resulting in a very long total duration of effects. It received a lot of attention as a "date rape drug" in the U.S. in the 1990s.
