Abstract
For practical and ethical reasons we often study the effects of drugs on animals when our real interest is the drug's effect on humans. In this effort when we deal with drugs which alter complex mental states we are presented with obvious difficulties. Here we examine some of these difficulties and approaches to their solution using studies presented at this conference.
